Contact management, SIM card, google contacts

Hello,

Verizon Droid 2 global, recently rooted, wiped and installed HeXen.

This is my wife's phone - an upgrade from a non-smart phone. Verizon "transferred" her contacts from the old phone to the global phone. At first I couldn't figure out how they could do this - having an HTC incredible all my contacts are sync'd with my google account. It turns out they transferred them to the SIM card on the phone.

I want to get ALL her contacts into her google account and OFF the sim card so there are no issues in the future.

Has someone done this? What is the simplest method?

The Market has a free app, UiA - Backup Contacts, which I used myself.

Using this app, dump the contact information into a Google-compatible CSV file, then head to Google Contacts (make sure you are logged in with your wife's account) and import the CSV.
