Contacts back up

Member
I searched and found lots of questions and few answers.

How do I get all my contacts to show up on my gmail account?

I have only added one number since I got this phone and that one shows up in gmail. But all the others which were transfered from my other phone do not show up in gmail. How do I get them backed up?

Back them up to the sdcard, then transfer the card and restore.

Only contacts saved under your gmail account are backed-up...contacts saved only to the phone are not.

im not trying to transfer them to another phone.

I just wanted to know how to get them to list on my gmail account like the recently added number. Good for records if my phone vanishes or something happens.

Can I change all the contacts I already have to gmail accounts?

ok. figured it out

From the contacts app go options -> More -> Import/Export

Export to the SD card.

Go into the phone Gmail app. write yourself an email. attach the contacts file called .00001.vcf (or something similar. its a vcard file)

wait like ten minutes for the phone to send the email

Go to Gmail on your PC web browser. Download the attachment you just sent yourself.

Go to Contacts -> More actions -> import and select the attachment you just downloaded.

and of course, you could just plug your phone into the computer and access the file off your SD card that way instead of trying to send an attachment.
