Contacts on sd card

I recently flashed my first rom, and while trying to restore my contacts I discovered Backup assistant didn't work. Luckily I had made a backup to the sdcard. However when I imported them they came with a bunch of gmail contacts I don't want. So my question is can someone tell me what the directory is on the sdcard that the contacts are saved in so that I can go in and edit the file?

I've never had too... I've always used my google n sync. I've restored my phone more than once n it always worked fine for me.
