Contacts When Sorted Into Groups Don't Display as List

When contacts are sorted into groups, and you go into a group, they appear as sort of square icons with a name on them - rather large - instead of a list. My blind friend cannot use the arrow keys to scroll through these. Is there a way to make the contacts display as a list the same way they would in the full contact list?
