OK... Got a goofy one... Google gesture search or if I make a direct dial shortcut.... I get force close issues... If I open up contact and then search... No Issue. Tried with everything unfrozen and after clearing cache... Still there..

One problem I had work my x... are you rooted? And did you change the screen density

Rooted... Not sure what screen density is so I'm gonna say no... Tried multiple contact programs with same results..

Have ya tried going into settings/applications/manager applications/"all" tab then scroll down to dialer and cleared data on it

We have nothing to fear but running out of beer
