Cracker Barrel

If you ever eaten at a Cracker Barrel you will notice it's some "good eat'n". But once I started really focusing on my health I started looking for calories and nutrition and I notice out of all the restaurants I been to cracker barrel makes it harder to find the nutrition value. They literally bury it outside of their few advertised light options, which they will list the calories on the menu.

So after digging I actually found the nutrition numbers and were astonished but then later not surprised. It truly ruined it for me as I know that I for one can only go there once in a blue moon and even then have to cut the portions in thirds and modify it to get it in my diet. Case in point when I went a few week ago I got the grandma breakfast but swapped out a lot of stuff. I went with egg whites, turkey sausage and fruit. I also dropped the number of pancakes to 2. And chased it with unsweetened tea. Still if you can ignore the nutrition the food their is awesome.

How do you guys handle CB, do you ignore the nutrition and enjoy or did you just not know how bad the nutrition numbers were?

I go there every chance I get. my normal meal is ham and cheese omelet, order of bacon, order of sausage, hash brown casserole, toast with apple butter and sweet tea. pretty light considering...

Are you trying to imply that chicken fried steak with white gravy isn't healthy eatin'?:confused:

Right Lol.

Yeah, and the fact your meals normally require 3+ plates to hold all the food. That should give you a hint you are racking up on the calories.

@bkdodger, if you ever get a chance to visit the south it is some good "eat'n". And since you never been to one just ignore the nutrition. It is some down home southern cooking that just is awesome.

There are Cracker Barrel chains up around Fishkill & Poughkeepsie bkdodger, make a road trip one weekend and enjoy some yummy, high calorie, buttery food. [emoji3]

I haven't been to one in...okay, about 20 years, so now I feel old. I'd like to go back to one eventually...on a day when I've had a very light breakfast and will die if I don't eat food, heh.

Their headquarters is in Lebanon TN. Weird that I passed it and never knew. I lived in Mt Juliet for awhile.

I never knew that. I wonder if I go by their corporate HQ and tell them we are discussing their food here on the forum, will they give me any good coupons? o_O

maybe you can get coupons if you go there and complain about something :-) though IMO, it would be hard to find something about them to complain about.
