Crackly speaker from headset?

Hi, I've just rooted my droid and everything was fine until yesterday when my speaker on my headset (not the speakerphone one, the ear one) started sounding really crackly all of a sudden. It does it with all the calls and sound worse the louder it is. It sounds like it's tinny or "blown out"? I'm not sure if that's the right word but I haven't played extremely loud sounds through it. Especially that speak. The speakerphone speaker is fine. Any ideas?

Although it could be due to your root, it could also be coincidence. It really sounds like a hardware issue. If it were me, I'd revert the rooting and see if it went away. If not, I'd submit for a warranty return.

If setting it back to stock fixes it, then I wouldn't root it that way again.
