Creating contact groups, mockup inside

Is there a way to make it so that when I go to my contacts, I have a selection of groups to show? I tried making groups in Gmail but when I select to show that group they are just integrated into all my contacts.

Things like (Family), (Friends), (People from PNW Riders), (Work), etc.

I made a mockup, this is my ideal scenario:

That is a pretty good mockup, if I do say so myself.

So does anyone know of something that does this?

FolderOrganizer (which used to be called abcOrganizer) provides the functionality you're looking for. In addition to applications, it enables you to create groups of bookmarks and contacts and access them through a single user-selected icon and user-defined label. (abcOrganizer: applications, bookmarks, contacts -- get it?)

The individual "labels" are then treated as shortcuts and can be placed on your homescreen. The paid version of the app enables the user to have hierarchies of items giving you the sub-category functionality (though not exactly the look) your mock-up suggests.

P.S. Are you riding yet this Spring?

That is a sweet mock-up. Can you turn that into an app and post the link? I'll gladly pay 99 cents for that. Hell, I'll go as high as $1.01 ;)
