As many people here know I got my Bionic when it was first released and I loved it.
Yes, it had problems.. the Apps2SD thing is annoying as hell. I never had any data drops so that wasnt an issue for me but the killer since day 1 has been the Black screen of death.

As a independent business person my phone is my life. If the phone shuts down and requires a battery pull there is no way to know how much business I'm losing. It just had to stop. The .893 updates did not fix this for me at all.. something had to change.

A few days ago I decided that if I could find an iPhone4 16GB in good condition for around $200 I'd make the jump.. at least to try it out. For $200 I could easily break even if I dont like the thing. And today I found one.. nearly mint condition, clean ESN.. $200. So I jumped on it.

I've been an Android fanboy since the day the OG Droid hit the streets.. and I bought my OG about a month after it came out. I've also had a DX which I was quite pleased with until the GB OTA hit and thats when I started to wonder if Moto and/or VZW really knew what they were doing with Android. I really wanted my Bionic to be great.. and in a lot of ways it is. But I need something that will JUST WORK. And my Bionic failed at that far too frequently to be usable any longer.

I'll still pop in to see how things are going from time to time.
I'm not going to rush into selling the Bionic quite yet... I may hate this damn iPhone.. and perhaps another fix will be in the works sooner rather than later.

Thanks to all who have been on this Bionic journey with me the past few months.. this is a great place to have called home while enjoying (and pulling my hair out from) this device.

Shame to see you go SW, has been a journey indeed. I can appreciate the solidity of an iPhone no doubt, but I love customization too much to ever even consider leaving android. Hope it works out though, best of luck and please do stop by:i-m_so_happy:

A sad day indeed. Some of your prior post SW have encouraged a lot of hope for me. You will be missed. I do have a feeling the hollow empty feel of the iphone will scream to be filled and we shall see your return soon enough.

Good Luck

That's a shame really - I mean it (sounds sarcastic, but isn't) ... but I want to know ~ if you secretly love the iPhone are you going to tell anyone ??? ;)

I'm really going to miss you. You are someone whose advice has always been spot on and reliable. Thank you for being available and do come back as often as you can.

I'm gonna miss you too, but as I say to the OP in any "Should I get the <insert phone name> or not?" or "Should I sell my <insert phone name> and get the <insert phone name> or not?" threads; YOU have to decide what phone you want to use. Same thing applies here.

I have to admit; if the iPhone was available with Verizon when the LG Voyager came out, I'd probably have an iPhone.

I might have had an iPhone as well. I switched to VZW because my whole extended family is on it. Android was my choice for smartphones then. Had iPhone been there I would have taken it.

That said, my subsequent experience with Android has good enough to make me want to stay. But if Apple made changes to allow for things like widgets, customizable icons to get away from the 2006 UI look, and allowed for larger phone screens, I would certainly consider it.

Good luck to you, SpeedingWheels!

I just wanted to drop one post in here quick. I can't thank y'all enough for the positive posts in here. With all the typical Apple slamming, the tone of posts y'all are putting up here is outstanding! Keep up the good work. And SW, I actually know what you're saying. I was waiting on the Nexus and just am not feeling comfortable about it. I had the Inc and Inc 2 and just switched out for the iPhone 4S. Android and Apple are both outstanding and have pluses and minuses. It's all in what you're looking for. Can't go wrong either way.

In all honesty, I think the biggest issue I'd have switching to an iPhone is the screen size. When I went from my Inc2 to the X2, I was so disappointed. The X2 was a joke. I considered going back to the Inc2, but honestly I had gotten so used to the .3 inches more of screen I couldn't do it, it seemed so small. So I am interested to hear your thoughts on the dramatic jump to a 3.7.

Also jkhon, in the same way it used to be cool to bash apple and its hipsters, after 6 or however many years now the cool thing is to NOT bash apple and simply take pride in Android. That's what all the cool kids are doing at least... :icon_ lala:

You are my new hero for this quote!

As far as screen size, I thought the change from the Inc 2 screen to the 4S was going to kill me, but in all honesty it hasn't been bad at all. The funny think I have felt about Apple is that their resolution and image quality (not saying Android is bad, I swear), makes up for the screen size. The keyboard definitely feels very good.

Best of luck to ya' SW! Like yourself, I was an early adopter with the OG. I also had very high expectations for the Bionic, and still hold out hope! I came very close to switching to the iPhone before aquiring my Bionic. One of the main reasons I did not, as silly as it sounds, was because one of my very dear friends is an Apple executive and it drives him nuts that I will not switch to Apple. I always make sure I use the sigpic below when exchanging email with him. Apple makes great products, hard to argue with their success and they are pretty customer driven. My kids are pushing me for smartphones and they want iPhones. May have to let them try one so I can become familiar with them

You have made alot of great contributions out here and I have always paid attention to what you have to say. Sure you will be equally appreciated on the Apple forums! Good luck!

SW,

How are you finding the network experience, having downshifted to 3G only? I imagine, of course, that you have fewer network transitions owing to 3G's wider availability, but are does the slower network give you any pause?

Also, I've read mixed reviews on Siri - do you have any opinions yet?

I will say Siri has been absolutely amazing. It really doesn't much miss a beat. I've never found anything that will get as close to perfect when dictating emails, texts and such in all that I have tried. Last night dictated a meeting and requested a reminder while driving down the road. Never touched the screen. It got the name of the person I was meeting exactly right, capitalization and all, without pause.

I am going to make a very controversial statement here (considering we are an Android forum here).

For the OP, and iPhone might just be a better fit. Why? Because the OP states that they need something that "just works." - the iPhone is the closest thing you can come to trouble-free in the smartphone world.

(it still might require a reboot from time to time, it IS a smartphone. It's unrealistic to expect that a smartphone never need be rebooted.)
