Custom ROMS for R2D2

Is there a way to install a custom ROM on the R2D2 without using the D2's sbf? I don't want to brick my phone.

liberty 1.0 and 1.5

i have loaded liberty 1.0 and 1.5 over my stock droid without problems both have worked great and the install was smooth aswell just make sure you have your backup ready and know how to get into bootstrap if for some random reason it goes into boot loop which i have no reason to believe it will. i dont know about any other roms i havent tested any others as i liked liberty so much
