It seems like CyanogenMod is coming to new flagship devices slower than ever. Lollipop has made any kind of root or modifications a pain staking process for developers, which has really slowed down the process of building AOSP roms like CM 12.1. We are several months past the release of the M9 and Galaxy S6, but still neither device has a proper AOSP rom.
The Sony Xperia M2 is a bit older of a device which means it has already had dedicated developers. They have just released their version of Lollipop for the device. To install CM12.1 on your Xperia M2 you will need to be sure that you are bootloader unlocked with TWRP installed. Grab the rom and gapps from the links below.
