so i was using the phone all day with no problems, i lay the phone on the couch and go to sleep. i was expecting people to call me and no one ever did, i look at the phone and its all black and wont turn on. i remove the battery and restart and nothing. i plug it in the computer and the little white light turns on next to the jack but still no power. i plug it in the wall and i get a black screen with the Motorola M in the middle and that's it. please please help me. if any one has any idea of what i could do. I have removed and replaced the battery like 15 times so any input other then that would be appreciated.

Looks like a VZW problem. Take it back to the store and have it replaced. Looks like a manufacturer defect. If you like though you can do a hard reset on it first.

instructions in post below this one. sorry got ahead of myself

1. Turn the Droid off. If it won’t turn off, take the battery out then place it back in.
2. Open the keyboard and press the X key while pressing and holding Power. The device will power on. Keep holding the buttons downuntil a yellow triangle appers.
3. Press the Camera and Volume Up buttons at the same time to get to the menu. (I had to press them several times).
4. Use the direction pad to the right of the keyboard to select the Format option

Step 1

Before you begin anything else, back up ALL of your files to either your microSD card on the phone or to your PC or laptop with the use of the USB Data Cable. Be sure to write down passwords to applications you may have downloaded if you wish to reinstall them after Hard Resetting. Once you have everything saved that you want, remove the microSD card from it's slot, located in the battery compartment. You will need to remove the battery first to remove your microSD card. After card removal, return the battery to it's working position. Do NOT turn the device back on yet.
Step 2
With your Motorola Droid still powered "Off," slide open the keyboard.
Step 3
Press and hold the "X" button on the keyboard while pressing the "Power/Unlock" button, located next to the 3.5mm headphone jack. Continue holding down the buttons until a yellow triangle "Warning Sign" appears on the screen.
Step 4
Once the yellow warning sign appears, press the physical "Volume UP" and "Camera" buttons simultaneously until a new menu appears. This may take several attempts before success.
Step 5

From the new menu that appears on-screen, go down to the "wipe data/factory reset" option using the Directional-Pad next to the keyboard, and press the "Center" button on the D-Pad to confirm.
Step 6

Scroll down to the "Yes -- delete all user data" and press the "Center" button on the D-Pad once more. That's it! When your Motorola Droid is done wiping all saved applications, information, and settings, your device will be back to the factory settings.

i don't know if a hard reset is necessary at this point. sounds like you just completely drained your battery. stick the phone on a wall charger (NOT a PC) and leave it there for as long as you can (like 12+ hours) and come back to it.

if it's HOT and still won't function, take it back. if it does anything other than return to normal operation, take it back.

in the future, li-ion batteries aren't meant to be drained, so try to get it to a charger whenever possible.

so yesterday i backed up everything online and also on the sd card, im not sure how to check if it worked or if ill have to redo all the work ive done making my phone perfect but we'll see. i just got done doing what you explained and it seemed to be done and asked to reboot and after that..NOTHING, still the same black screen with the white M in the middle.

i live in key west and all that we have is an authorized rep here, and i didnt even buy it from them i bought it online. now im good friends with the guys there so they help me out with all my phone problems.

the phones battery was fully charged and was plugged in all day. im going to try out a friends battery any see if that's the problem. but Verizon is sending me a new one tomorrow. im kinda pissed off but ohh well, ive had sooo many problems with every phone ive ever had with verizon so this was very much expected. ive done nothing but baby and take very good care of this phone and it died after a little over 10 days.
