Delete apk files from sd?

Bob Dammit

Didn't see this question addressed when I searched. After installing apps from the sd card, (Mylock, etc) is it ok to delete or remove the .apk file from the sd card?

Thanks for the reply. I'm anal about keeping everything in order, and couldn't see wasting that space if it wasn't needed.

Good question Bob...

So, if I understand this right, I can delete the Swype apk (for instance) and it's folder from the SD directory, now that Sywpe is installed?

yes..anything you install is put into the /data/app folder on the phones memory
you can create a backup folder on your sd card just too be safe incase you need then again later on or move them onto your cpu somewhere.

I just keep all my apk's on my computer... delete after install on Droid, still have them if need be. Though it is a minimal gain...

Do you guys keep install files on your computer after you install a program you downloaded? This is the same thing. Once its installed you dont need to apk file.

Thats what I was hoping for, but didnt want to bring on a migraine trying to sort it out, if it crashed.
