Delete Factory Ringtones / Notification Tones?

Hareball

New Member
Has anyone figured out how to delete the factory ringtones / notification tones? Quite frankly I'd never use any of the ringtones and it's just annoying having them appear in the list among the list of my custom ringtones.

it's the same thing with the preinstalled apps, we don't have access to the folders to delete them so, until then.. will always be a no go.

I'd like to be able to add my own ringtones to the system memory instead of the sd card.. since you guys already know where this is located is it possible to do this? I know it takes up memory space but its only a couple of ringtones not more than 50k but I'd like them on system so the Droid doesn't default a different sound when it's plugged in usb and mounted.

Thanks.

ALWAYS DO A BACKUP FOR ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE SYSTEM FILES

/system/media/audio

from there you see subfolders for alarms, notifications, ringtones.

You will need root and know how to mount system as read/write to make changes.

Reboot the phone after making the changes to have them reflect in your sound selection menus.

I've never tried removing , but i have successfully added them before
