delete or move shortcuts from homepages

I'm embarrassed to say 4 the life of me I can. Not figure out how to both move and or remove shortcuts from any of the 3 homepages.... help!

Long hold on the icon, drag down to the apps tab, when it turns red and shows a trash can, drop it.
