Delete phone call history & notification of text/emails

I just got my DroidX and need help with a couple things. How do you delete a call from recent call list without deleting entire list? Also is there a way for the email and text icons to indicate when I have a new message? My Droid Incredible would indicate a number right on the icon. Thanks for your help.

You can long press on the contact and select delete. I use a home screen replacement called Launcher Pro and that has a setting that allows me to have a number of unread on my icons. There maybe other market apps that can give you the same thing without replacing the home screen launcher but Launcher Pro is great for me.
