Difference between /mnt/sdcard and /sdcard?

Since rooting I noticed that my file manager by default goes to /mnt/sdcard instead of /sdcard as it used to.

After looking at the folders they seem to contain the exact same items, so I can only assume this is a backup of some sort? I never noticed the /mnt directory before.

Nope...no backup. Should be the exact same directory. /sdcard is what you see from USB...basically the directory as it appears from the hardware. /mnt is where mounted volumes reside, so /mnt/sdcard is just the SD card as seen by the OS.

Hey guys!
I have TOTALLY DIFFERENT folders /sdcard and mnt/sdcard!
in /sdcard I only have folder voodoo
and mnt/sdcard is my memory card actually!

The problem is /sdcard is the home folder for most apps!

How can I make mnt/sdcard home folder to system??

PS. Samsung Fascinate, Android 2.2.1
