HTC Incredible, stock FROYO 2.2/build 3.26.605.1, 1 week old

Hi,
So I have been poking around about my new phone. I have been using my new phone. They say "familarity breeds contempt", this applies to inanimate objects and puter phones as well. LOL
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...-root-stock-2-2-using-unrevoked-3-32-a-6.html
Opinions please,
1) Does the above link, lead me to the current best, method to select "run as admin", on my incredible?
2) Super Manager ver 2.0, this is a free app. I want to remove, Skype, Facebook, City ID, Amazon MP3, My Verizon, Twitter etc.... Is this app known to have issues? Really tweaks me that these are on the dam phone, and you can not control them. No too app task kills and such, They gotta go!
3) The USB cable that came with the stock charging unit,
a) can it be used to connect to a PC, or is it for charging only.
b) can any USB cable of its kind, be used for charging the phone?
4) Of all the current longer life batteries, on the market for the phone, which is the best one to go with?
5) Is there anything wrong with the stock SD card, or should I upgrade it?
The SD will be for the storage of paid for apps only. No music, pictures, videos.
6) Advantages of going from FROYO 2.2 to GINGERBREAD 2.3, if any?
Currently, from what little I've read, I do not gain anything from the update. Some say better battery usage in 2.3, some say its bad losing HTC Sense in 2.3.
7) Is there a better app than SetCPU for OC'ing the phone. I intend this only after I have customized, trimmed out, buffed up the phone too what I want.
8) I have been playing alot with downloading and then uninstalling the free apps. I assume that the phones rom is similar to SSD tech.??????
a) Does the phone use "trim" to maintenance the phones rom, as a desktop SSD would?
b) are there maintenance apps available for the phone and which one is preferable?
9) I have currently DL'ed the apps, AVG and CallConfirm. Are there others that are worth investigating?

This little beauty is a computer, I want to treat it as such. Get the OS sleek, lean and snappy. Shame on Verizon for dumping all the bloatware into the phone.

On a side note.
I live in NYC. I was in the neighborhood of the Verizon store where I purchased the phone last week, I stepped up to the tech counter. I asked the Verizon tech, can you turn on the "run as administrator" functionality to the phone? He looked at me quite quizzically, repeat question, HUH. He turns and looks at the tech next to him. I say,"I want to ROOT the phone". Now I got two guys looking at me like I'm crazy, lol.
I guess that makes me part of a select few, that ain't sheep. LMAO

Have a nice day.

so, what happened? did you get it rooted? do you have an update?

Nope,

Still researching, no one even answered my questions so far. Most are yes or no responses.
I'm still formulating an approach.
ie: do I really need to uninstall the bloatware, or just gain command of them so I can disable any auto updating and launch by default apps.
In my world, all would be set for "on demand" only. Currently, I'm not into social networks, but the future...............................change demands preparedness.:icon_evil:

So peoples respond please!

I'm also interested in the "Star Trek" like nature, of the phone, "Voice", but right now I only see at minimum 1 touch software.?????????????

1)Yes, the link to unrevoked is what I used and it worked great.
2)Get Titanium backup once you are rooted. You can uninstall programs from there.
3) a)Yes, it is used for charging and syncing your phone with your computer. b)Yes, any cable of its kind will work, or at least has for me.
4)Not sure, but once you root, you can install a custom rom and kernal to improve your battery life.
5)You can run with the stock sd card until you need more room.
6)I love gingerbread. The look and feel of it along with the improved performance is enough for me. I just installed the FusionIce rom and it is awesome. I definitely would recommend it.
7)I use Setcpu and it has worked great for me. Some devs say not to use it on certain roms, but if you do your research you should be ok.
8)Get a cache cleaner and you should be good to go.
9)Remove any anti-virus programs you have installed. You dont need it. Also, it is recommended to NOT use task killers unless you have to. Titanium Backup, Astro, Rom Manager, Terminal Emulator, Linpack, SetCPU. Im sure there are others worth mentioning, but my morning coffee has not set in yet.

I hope this has helped you somewhat.

TY Sticky,

Did you use to fly FA?
Nice avatar, ah the aroma....

On to business,

I want to use a Windows 7 64 bit puter, is there any issue with the variety of software I have to load? ie: unRevoked, Verizon, tethering
Does unRevoked install itself in total, or do I need to direct to a specific location on puter?
The Verizon CD, what on the disc, minmum, do I need for unrevoked to do its job? I mean no point installing HTC Sense, Doulbletwist, yada yada.
Which USB driver is better, the one I DL'ed for android off net, or the one on the Verizon CD?
Sticky,
Could you point to links for this battery saver rom?????? No hurries, I'm not rushing.
Since the phone was just issued, I am assuming that the majority of phone is uptodate, radio wise etc... So I am inclined to leave the OS alone. But a question comes to mind. The SD card comes out, meant too. Does the phones rom physically come out as easially?
ie:interchancable on demand
Could I take a preflashed rom, plug it in, and boot the phone up with the new rom?

Answers appreciated, greatly.

You shouldn't have any issues using windows 7. When you download unrevoked, it will come as a zip. unzip it to your desktop. I believe it is a couple of text files and Reflash_package.exe. Just click on the exe file and it will open up for ya. No need to install anything except the android-usb-driver from the rooting thread. As far as the verizon cd, you can check it out, but there is nothing you need from it. Here are a couple links to roms you can check out. List of ROM's for the Incredible - xda-developers The Incredible List Flashing a rom is nothing like removing an sd card from the phone. After you download the rom, you must put it on the root of your sd card and rename it update.zip or follow the instructions according the developer. It is a very simple process if you do it right. Just make sure to make a backup before you do ANYTHING. Flashing a rom is comparable to installing, lets say, Windows. There is no hardware to change out. I am running the FusionIce gingerbread rom and so far I like it the best. I would recommend trying a few out so you can see the difference between them. Cyanogen 7 would be another that I would recommend to you. Here is the link to the Fusion Rom http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...on-rom-beta-gingerbread-droid-incredible.html
