Disable lock screen

Is it possible to disable the "slide to unlock" screen? I want to be able to just press the power button to wake it up and be at the last screen I had up. I mean, it's not like I'm going to hit that tiny button accidentally, so why should I have to do 2 steps to wake it up?
I tried searching this, so sorry if it's been answered...

not currently no... nor do I forsee it in the future... at least not without 'root'ing your Droid.

Yes, check out ScreenModeWidget, it does what you're looking for.

I use ScreenModeWidget for this also. It's a little buggy but gets the job done. It did not work with home++ very well, if you use that. You still get the slide/unlock screen when a phone call comes in.
