Disassociating web videos with gallery

Is there a way to disassociate videos with the gallery? I don't want them associated with any app. If I am using Dolphin Browser or any other browser video files go straight to the gallery for playing. There is no option to save the file. I rooted my android based tablet and removed the gallery app, and when I click on a web video, I am asked to save the video as mp4. This worked fine and is the behaviour that I want. However, I then went to the google play store and installed a different gallery viewer. Now the videos automatically open in the new gallery and there is no option to save the videos again. There are no defaults set in the settings menu on the android tablet. I want to use the gallery for photos only, not videos. For videos I always want the option to save instead of play.
