Display on QWERY keyboard

I don't mean to sound dense, but what exactly is your issue? What does "the display on my qwerty keyboard" and "led of the letters dont come up" mean?

If I were to venture a guess, I think he's talking about the backlight on his slide out qwerty not lighting up. sliding the keyboard in and out a couple times should turn them on. Or locking and unlocking the phone using the power button.

Well, it could possibly be a hardware problem. Maybe the keyboard backlight is shot. We need to remember that most Droid 1 units are getting to be quite "old" as far as tech items go.

Perhaps an OEM keyboard replacement would help:

Motorola Droid A855 OEM Keyboard Replacement

But I am not sure if the backlight is an integral part of the keyboard unit, or the backlight is mounted below the keyboard.

EDIT: upon further research it would seem to be mounted below the "keyboard" - that replacement "keyboard" is actually a sticker comprising of mylar bubbles. It just sticks on and contains no actual circuitry.

I had the same problem with mine, and I solved it installing the right baseband in my droid, maybe that could help.
