dock icons question

not sure where to ask this but doesnt anyone know how to modify the dock itself? like adding a wood plank etc...i know you can long press the icons and remove them but how do add a 'dock' where those icon can sit on? im on AOKP with nova launcher btw..

I have seen some mods for themes that did this sort of thing, but I haven't seen one recently.

Perhaps it is covered in the icon packs? With Apex, it appears that it is this way (I don't see anything in Nova, although I don't have Prime): View attachment 55584
