It looks like there are options for using external speakers with the Galaxy S3 when it's docked.
Docking stations look like they're just a piece of plastic that goes between the USB cable from the computer and the USB jack in the phone, with an additional audio-out port on the station.
This means that audio is coming out of the phones USB port and then gets split on the station and sent out the mini jack.
So why can't I just use a USB cable from the phone to the PC and route the sound in the PC to its speakers?
I've tried a mini-stereo to mini-stereo wire from the headphone jack into the audio in on the PC, but I don't get sound there, even though it shows up in the speaker mixer app.
Anyone have success with external sound?
