Does Meebo or Doesn't It?

I've been reading conflicting things about Meebo. Some say it uses SMS for its IM'ing. Others say it uses data. Does anyone have any idea which one it actually is? I'm hoping it's data, because I really like the Meebo interface...

on my device, its a ^100% data usage, NO SMS

you can do one thing. There are several "usage watcher" on the market, counting sms
and data usage. start em, use meebo and control!

But my SMS package didnt decrease when i was using meebo so it HAS to be data ^^

Just downloaded Phonalyzer from the market and confirmed that it uses data and not sms. Sent a message to myself with handcent and the counter went up, sent an IM and it did not. Meebo is definitely the way to go for IM
