I am trying to get everything tweaked for maximum battery savings and efficiency.

Is using WiFi less of a battery drain than 3G?

If yes, does turning on WiFi turn off the 3G? I know the 3G disappears from the top line of the phone but I didn't know if that was because there is no room left for it.

Thanks!

Wifi will supersede 3G as your data connection, but it doesnt turn off the radio (I think). Also, unless your phone is actively searching for the connection (out of range wifi or lost the tower) the hardware simply being on shouldnt impact battery life that much. It's really only powered when it's pushing out trons. I'm sure people will disagree with this, but I just dont see the power loss.

There have been a billion threads about Wifi vs 3G -- I honestly dont see the difference on my D2 or my wife's Droid Pro. If you want more juice, I highly recommend dropping for the extended battery.

Ok.

Sorry about reposting on a major topic.

I appreciate the info though.

Not a problem. Let me know what you find -- honestly, it can vary from person to person. It really depends on personal use and habits.
