Download Icon Won't Go Away

I've had a download icon stuck on my toolbar(?) since the first time I downloaded a new app. Other (multiple) download icons will go away when power down/up. Any ideas?

Also, is there a definitive list of what all the icons mean? I can't figure out the one like a briefcase with something inside. It comes and goes without my consent or support.
