Download Notification Problem ???

I tried downloading an attachment from gmail...but the file type was not supported so it failed. I got the original notification that the download was unsuccessful. Now about every thirty minutes the download icon shows up in the notification bar. Every time it is the notification for the unsuccessful download. Any ideas how to make this stop..it is getting annoying.

I'm having a similar problem only it's a successful icon... I downloaded an imagine off Google picasa, it was successful, I cleared it, now every day the icon will appear with the same file name. I clear it every time and every day it reappears.

Any ideas?
