Downloaded a ringtone

I have searched the boards for instructions on how to change my ringtone to one I downloaded.
Make a folder, a media folder? How do I make a folder? I 'added' a folder to the screen, but how do I put anything in it?
Step by step help please.

Thanks in advance

Get a file explorer from the play store & put that folder on your sd.

Tapped from a Galaxy Nexus using Xparent ICS

Another way of doing it is to go into my files, select internal storage. Tap the media folder, tap the ringtones folder. Find the ringtone and long press it, select move, now tap the top where it says internal storage, select home, select SD card, find your media folder if you don't have one tap options, create folder, open the media folder and select ringtones if its not there, create the folder.same as you did with the media, now tap move at the bottom of the screen.

Sounds really involved, but its not.
