Is there a place online that I can download apps and games from to my laptop? I can then put them on my phone thru the usb cable.

This would be useful for a variety of purposes...

There are some .apks on blogs and rapidshare, but no established site that I know of.

Yeah...not the least of which is that I am in a country where I have no service. It would be nice if I could still load apps and games to my phone.

I understand your problem but you probably also understand that enabling people to download apps directly to their pc's would also enable them to put the apps on multiple phones. Furthermore, it would create difficulties in terms of distributing updates.

If your request is legitimate and you want to be legal about it, your best option would be to contact the developer of a particular app (which you can determine by logging into appbrain.com or other sites) and explain your situation to them.

Never even thought of it that way. I'll try logging into the site you suggested.

Thanks for the suggestion.

False.

Ever heard of a thing called iTunes?

Furthermore, it's already possible to pirate Android .apk's without any sort of central source. I think a central program made/distributed by Google with the OP idea is a perfectly fine idea. They would just need to start encrypting .apk's with DRM (yuck, I just threw up in my mouth) so the average user can't go to a folder and swipe them.

So your solution to this problem is to go down the DRM road? Even Apple abandoned that. I think your own reasoning led to the inevitable conclusion. I suggest you try washing out your mouth.

Just a reminder guys. We do not allow threads to free paid apps in the forum. For that reason this thread is closed.
