Im trying to download a few files. some .rar some .wmv and some are .ppt

when i do it will not download the file but simply says its not supported by the phone. and download fails

I should be able to download anything i want regardless. anyone know a fix

well i found a short solution. using the Dolphin browser. anyone know why the native wont work for those?

I wish I could solve your issue, but I also use Dolphin mostly. It's great because of so many more features, quickness, and you can even download youtube videos just by long pressing on them. Niceness...

I think that if you download an app that will handle the files--like a powerpoint viewer for example--that app can register with the OS that it handles certain kinds of files. Then, when you use the browser it'll open the viewer app.

The stock browser designers probably wanted to save verizon some bandwidth by disabling downloading of unsupported files. This approach is also simpler for users...try to click a WMV and you are told no. How simple for the user!
