Droid 2 global keyboard

My droid 2 globals slide out keyboard is not lighting up. It doesnt even light up when connected to the charger. What do I need to do to get it working?

from my experience it senses the light level in the room and only turns on when its dark. is your keyboard still not lighting up when its dark? because then you may just have a defective phone

if you're rooted try downloading adjbrightness from the market, hit the settings button and enable the button backlights. see if that works for ya.

I have the same problem with the keyboard light. My sensor for the compass doesn't work. I called Motorola and send back for repair.
