Droid 2 Global~ why no vibrate on notifications

Newbie question. When I silence my phone to vibrate why do I not get notifications?

Many apps have notification settings when in silent or vibrate mode...

Check the apps.

tap the options button in the stock messaging app, tap settings. At the bottom, there are notification settings.

Make sure the notifications are checked, then you can set your vibrate settings. To test, make sure it says always vibrate. If you only want vibration in silent mode, you can select that.

If this doesn't fix your problem, your phone has bigger issues.
