Droid 2 Global will not turn on

Ok, so I am completely new at this business. A friend of mine purchased a verizon droid 2 global and was attempting to make it work with at&t. I have no clue what he has done to it but it will not even turn on. He said if I can fix it I can have it. When I plug it in to charge a little white light comes on by the port but no screen or back lighting on the keyboard does. I plugged it into my computer and the computer doesn't even show it as being plugged in. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't even get through the 1st step of that. (Step 1: Boot into the bootloader, you do this by powering on and holding power on + volume up + volume down. You should see a black screen with text that says battery: OK) I hold down those buttons and nothing happens whatsoever. The screen just stays black.

seems like there is a trick
like pull battery, plug charger in to phone, hold volume buttons, and replace battery
if nothing try power button, and use a wall charger not usb power

might try a charged battery if you can find one
