I've heard from a few people that the Droid 2 has a working FM Radio. Can the app on the phone (Droid 2) be ported to the Droid 1? I know many attempts have been made using the X files dump and the Milestone dump also for the radio. I'm desperate and don't want to give up on this.

i want it!!

what about porting it from the incredible?

I don't know the coding of the app. But if you have root access on the Incredible then e-mail me the FM Radio.apk and any other FM Radio apk.

Cool lets keep our fingers crossed!!

the droid 1 has the ability to have the radio but inside the droid 1 something needs to be attached (soldiered) to the ear phone 3.5mm jack to make it work as an antenna to get the fm signal.

So for all intents the getting FM Radio on the Droid 1 isn't happening.

Also before I decide to shell out for a Droid 2 later on can someone confirm 100% that the Droid 2 does indeed have a working FM Radio?

Yeah I was wondering If the Droid 1 even had the hardware to support FM reception??

From what I've heard and read in the past, yes. There was a huge development topic at Alldroid awhile ago. But the main guy working with it ended up getting in a motor vehicle accident, and ended up with a ton of medical bills, and little free time to continue development.

I'm sorry about that. But now I'm confused. Can or cannot the Droid 1 get FM radio?

I played with a friends Incredible today. Tried the FM Radio and it sucked big time. Even local stations were staticy. So if the Droid does have an FM Radio it's probably nothing to write home about.

Thanks for trying.

I'm not sure that is the best way to compare two totally different phones made by different companies.

Also the app from the incredible, by HTC probably doesn't use the same FM chip as the one Motorola uses.

Maybe so. But the Droid doesn't have the FM antenna lead running to the headphone jack. So I've heard. So it probably won't work.
