Droid 2 Newbie -- some basic Qs.

I apologize if these are all dumb questions; I'm pretty new to the Android hacking/tinkering scene. I've been using a Droid 1 for a year and change, and just upgraded to the D2. The stock interface on the Droid 1 never caused any complaints from me, but I'm not liking the non-stock Droid 2 elements. I'm not really complaining about performance issues, I just don't like the look and feel of most of the replacement elements.

I'm basically looking to make my phone as "stock" / vanilla as possible while exposing myself to as few risks, bugs, or headaches as possible. I'm not afraid of rooting, ROMs, etc, but also worry about investing too much time tweaking and not enough USING my device.

1. Is there any straightforward way to make my Droid 2 act like a 2.2 or 2.3 vanilla device?

2. Is it possible to use the original car home, dock home, text messaging, contacts, and camera?

3. Is it possible to sync Facebook w/ existing contacts like the D1 could do?

Well, I answered some of my own questions by flashing Liberty -- oldschool Facebook sync and the the other stock apps are all back.

Liberty's still a bit further from vanilla than I'd prefer and flashing a ROM is a bigger hassle than I wish was required for this, but, hey, it worked.

You can also try fission. Fission has a vanilla theme as do most other roms but fission also has the stock car dock as an addon. I think you made a great choice by running liberty, I'm just saying it all depends on what's important to you, the beauty of our phones is that we get to try any rom we want and if we don't like it its on to the next!
