so i got the x. and im really happy with the hardware. of course my biggest complaint is the lack of a keyboard because the digital space bar is a little disproportionally(ew new word) small. so some sentences when i fly through texting.start.to.read.likenthisnif.im.notnlooking.
but ill adapt. bc the screen is obviously huge. same with the buttons on-screen. maybe ill d/l a new keyboard.. anyway!
the media experience is the best ive had on a portable device, including the ipod touch xmas present from my boss (although a device with peggle on it always gets a +)
i got some sick pictures from the flyers home opener, a panoramic one of the spectrum and citizens bank park. very sick. two shortcuts for cam and camcord is nice. same with shooting options and the zoom. but all this is pretty obvious i guess looking at the specs.
rooting was a female dog. and of course theres not nearly as much available for a freeloader (and donation giver) like me who cant get in the nitty gritty myself. so ive just got the 928droid bgx2.3 over my stock root. i removed a lot, including swype as i did not find that as convenient or fast as everyone claims. but then again i try to swype words like disproportionally and vagabond-pie-eater.
theres a lot of bloatware. and a lot of things running constantly. as i said i cant get down to altering files too much but even after ive really cleaned out some crap preloaded apps and apparent 'help centers, EMERGENCY[ if anyone knows the apk that i can delete from system that runs this app please let me know!!]backup system', there still seems to be a lot of garbage running constantly eating up the comparitively-monsterish-compared-to-droid-memory of 477mb. im currently experimenting with a task killer. i always turned to quick system info pro. lots of good info on the device there. before it i had around 80mb free to be used. on first clear i get about 300. hours later after using... normal routine apps and services for me, i still have around 180-200 free. this will be my first batt charge cycle with the task killer so ill see how that goes. i just hate seeing mlb atbat, rom manager (when i cant even use it now!)
of course once a real rom comes out im sure someone will incorporate a good memory battery set up. im just impatient.
so there my droid sits. either to be used as a formidable back up phone as well as frankenstein and just play toy themed in all my favorite colors and playthings from 7 months of root access. or i turn it pink, add facebook and give it to my gf to replace her crapberry, altho i told her wait for the droid pro since i hate it.
its tough bc i cant believe wifi, maps, the market, and everything but texts and phone work on it still. ( i literally just navigated to scottsdale where my little jessica is, 1 day and 15 hours away. i guess thats no sleeping or excreting)
so i dont want to part with it. but as i just played with it, i feel just as i did when i went from the lg dare to the droid. well, not exactly. but i passed the dare to my buddy and when i hold it now i think it feels small and cheap. i get that feeling now going from droid to droid x. except from dare to droid was like going from my ipod to ipod touch. which confirmed my suspicion that i didnt want an iphone. so i got a droid. now droid x. and look at me now(you cant but ill go to a mirror for you). 2 droids in hand. ew. luke skywalker
