So i just got my droid a couple days ago. and i heard that using roms was awesome. so i decided to try it, and ppl said that you use droid 2 bootstrap. So i did that, backed up my files. and installed gummy jar 2.5 i believe. It worked but now all my data is erased and i cannot connect to verizon. data or talk. It is just constantly in airplane mode. I need to know how to fix this, and possibly how to recover my system back to the default i backed up.

it works now.While I'm glad you got it worked out, I'm pretty perplexed as to why gj would leave you in airplane mode. Thatvis usually an issue reserve for droid 2 global users. In any case don't let this discourage you from flashing roms. At mostvit was probably a fluke and flashing roms, when done right, doesn't cause this sort of issue.
