droid 2 screen black on backlight shows up

i have had my droid 2 for about 7 months now and have no issues as of last sunday went to turn the phone on and all that came up was the backlight but yet everything else worked fine keyboard lights came on 4 bottom buttons work even the touch screen but the screen was black took battery out nothing waited till the next day and it worked and now the screen wont come back even with pulling the battery please help ive had to down grade to my old htc eris which is ****

that is the exact same problem I am having and the guy at verion said it is the ribbon to the screen
