Droid 2 screen problem when closed

Hey everyone, I've had this problem for about a month, but every so often I push the lock button on my droid 2 and the screen won't respond when I try to unlock it. I proceed to slide it openand then can unlock because ll the touch controls work, when I slide it back into place no touch works. It goes away after quite a bit of use. Anyone know the problem? I have dropped it in the past
