Let me being with saying i am the newest noob you can think of, i rooted my phone only a week ago (i do have nandroid backups though) and last night installed CM7 through ROM manager and it worked fine (i did clear the cache and data), phone booted up for the first time in all its glory, but, be that as it may, at 4am i decided to call it quits, and turned off my phone.
This morning i wake up and try to turn it on and its stuck in the Motorola logo, so i take out the battery and try to boot into recovery. I get the option to

reboot system now
apply sdcard: update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

I really am freaking out because i really dont have the cash to get a new phone. How can i fix this?

Wipe your data and wipe your cache. Then try and reboot.

Or run the update.zip z4root uses this to hijack the bootanimation and boot into clockworkmod recovery from there wipe/reinstall cm7

Google how to sbf your phone. You will need RSD Lite 4.9, Motorola drivers, and the Droid2 sbf file. Watch a couple YouTube videos on it.

Really, you should have researched and had all the sbf stuff before you started modding. Make sure your phone battery is 60% or higher before you do it also.

i tried running the update but it said it "failed to vairify the whole file signature"

what are the odds my phone is broke forever? low? (hopefully)
