droid 3 ftw!

Just wanted to chime in to say how awesome the D3 is in case anyone is on the fence. The D1 was the best phone i'd ever owned until this one. I was rooted running cyanogen mod 7.0.3 and I haven't really missed it minus the wireless tether and slide down control bar. (note: i did love cyanogen mod and would put it on this one in a heartbeat if and when they ever support it)

It's SUPER fast, the slider keyboard is 1 million times better than D1, has a nice crisp screen, and motoblur actually isn't too bad. I dig the contacts widget and the task killer that came loaded is a pretty good effort i think. Just more ammo to flaunt at my iPhone fanboi brother. F him and his phone.

My only big complaint is all of the bloatware but that will be eradicated once someone achieves rootins

Whenever you're eligible Amazon has them for $70 =D

I wasn't eligible till November but i called up Verizon and they said i could do an "early" upgrade w/e that is. Just had to re-up (grandfathered data plan) and i got it for $149.

I wasn't eligible until March 2012, and I called them and got it early, unfortunatley I got it on 0 day so I paid 199, lol.

Why do phone carriers continue to make us wait for upgrades? it makes no sense. It's like "I want to give you more money why won't you let me?!"

Thats what I tell them every 1 to 1.5 years to get an early upgrade LOL.
The reason they limit you is because they are eating the real cost of the phone to lock you in for another 2 years of service. The phones really cost over $400 new and you are welcome to buy them at retail price at any time. But if you want the bomb price then you have to do it when they give you the 2 year price.

I bought mine at full pop 459 on line today. The Verizon store it was 600 . Will get it tomorrow. My upgrade is july of 2012. I might of been able to try and get an early upgrade but im ok with what I paid. Now I have an upgrade next year that I can still use and I will.

I agree with you 100%. I for one, am coming from blackberry and there is not even a comparison with the two. Best choice I could have ever made.

Haha, hell yeah guys. Welcome to the Droid 3 family! Can't wait to get this baby rooted. I miss the wifi tether. I agree, the 2yr thing sucks.. I get they can sell the phones cheaper because during the month by month payments, they make their money back.. but they make that in the first few months, the rest is all profited. 1yr contracts would be much better.!

I went from an Env3 to a Droid 3...so its my first smart phone..and I'm completely blown away by it. I absolutely love it and wish I would have gotten a smart phone earlier. I was going to get an iphone 4.. but now that I got the D3 I'm so glad I decided to go with android. So much you can do with this phone! If you like physical keyboards this phone is the one to have at the moment!

Yeah I definitely love my Droid3! I went from OG Droid to Droid 2 then to Droid X (totally missed the keyboard, so added a line to my plan and got my D3 for $149.99. Absolutely no regrets!

Let me put it this way...I got my droid 3 3 weeks ago and I haven't put it down since..heck my girlfriend has gotten mad because I was paying more attention to it and not her haha..I especially love it because it takes great pictures and videos , it plays all my music and there are numerous music players to pick from , I can listen to pandora or slacker radio anywhere , I can search the web , check my emails everywhere, news,weather,movie times, get directions, etc , you customize so much on the phone and make it your own especially if you use a different launcher , lastly I text alot and this phone is a texting machine..the keyboard is the best in the market right now and unlike the env3 the phone can hold hundreds and hundreds of messages. AND im still finding new things this phone can do via apps.

I highly suggest you move to smartphone if the things I mentioned above interest you. You wont regret it and its definatly worth the money. If you barely text or use your phone and don't care about email , internet , etc then stay with the env3 otherwise get with the times ) hope that helps!
