My name is Sandy. I purchased a Droid 3 a couple weeks ago, upgrading from the original Droid X. I am the grandmother of 2+ grandchildren. The 3rd will be arriving any day now.
I came across your forum because of an issue I am having with the Droid 3. After 2 weeks of no issues with my phone, the speakerphone for some reason stopped working in that no one can hear me, although I could hear them fine. After making sure that the settings were correct, I went to the Verizon store to see if they had any ideas. They found the same problem with the phone and just ordered another droid 3 for me.
The following day I received the new phone and immediately had to return the other unit within 5 days or get charged for the new unit. After activating the new phone and restoring my contacts from the backup assistant, I attempted to place a call and use the speakerphone. The phone had the same issue with the speakerphone, in that I could hear them but they could not hear me.
I immediately contacted Verizon Technical support about the issue and they suggested that the backup assistant possibly backed up a corrupt file and restored it to the unit when I restored my contacts. They recommended resetting the unit to factory settings then after activating the phone create a new gmail account. I did this and after activating the phone, tried using my speakerphone on a call, which proved to result in no one being able to hear me through the speakerphone.
After contacting Verizon support again, they are now sending me another unit. So I'm trying to see if any other Droid 3 owners are having the same or similar issue with their Droid 3's and what if any they did to resolve the issue.
