Droid 4 buttons

I've had my Droid for about a year and a half with no problems until randomly in the middle of the day. The four buttons at the bottom of the screen seem to be pushing the screen right above them, preventing me from going back or returning to the home screen. If I press any of the buttons at the home screen, it's as if I'm pushing right above where the buttons are located. I've tried restarting the phone several times and removing the battery, only to have the same problem when I turn it back on. It sucks when I receive a text, only to not be able to get out of it and return to the home screen and use anything else. The screen works 100% fine everywhere else. Is there any way to fix this or am I stuck going to a verizon store?
