Droid and the Space Shuttle...

I found out that the Space Shuttle Atlantis were passing in view of Sacramento tonight at 21:14. Google Sky on Droid helped me find Venus really quickly and we saw Atlantis pass overhead on Atlantis' last mission. We'll be able to see it over the next few nights. Way too cool!!!!

Yup, it's really true...Droid Does!!! dancedroid

For anyone interested go to this site and it'll give you the schedule for sitings across the US during the mission. (Sorry, no sightings for Alaska, Hawaii or Canada). Droid can help you with Google Sky or even a compas...

Human Space Flight (HSF) - Orbital Tracking

i found out from that site, that there's a sighting coming up in my area tomorrow.

i've never used google sky map before. never saw a need to (never thought of this, this is actually pretty cool). how would i go about finding that general area with google sky map?

I was given Venus and the Moon as the arrival point and not direction or elevation. You might only need the compas unless you find a site that can neme other sky postions to go by. Google Sky will give you what it's passing near as it goes across the sky.

oh okay. yeah it didn't give me locations like that, it gave me the numbers, so i might have to go look for a compass on the market. i just recently moved down to FL, so i actually was planning on going TO the launch, yet i got real busy this past week and couldn't make it =/ i was so mad. so i'm hoping to at least get to see it pass by.

I live in Port Orchard, WA and went outside to see the ISS pass over tonight. Used the compass on my DROID to make sure I was facing the right way.

Only issue is all the trees block the view. I think I saw it though.

I was never a brown stain on the mattress, hence me being alive. But yeah I got ya.

have you never seen full metal jacket???? great movie.

If it's clear tonight - and depending where you are - there is a great flyover of both the space station and the shuttle.

From my location (Michigan) the space station appears in the WNW sky at 9.32pm and passes just south of the Moon and Venus. It then goes high overhead and disappears in the ESE.

5 minutes later the space shuttle appears in the WNW sky and passes just north of the Moon and Venus. This should be really cool to watch, and I'm going to try to get some photos.

I've never used Google Sky or anything else on my phone to find this stuff out. I might have to try it, just for giggles.

I never know what to point at when I try sky map, are u supposed to keep phone flat or point to the sky? lol
