Droid, Android?

I am so new to this. I just came over from Blackberry, and now I have to master this whole new thing. I apologize for being stupid, but I have attempted to look for programs for my Droid, and I came across programs for Android, are they both the same or are they different, and what is the difference? Am I correct that the only way to load Droid programs is through the market place? I have bookmarked this forum, for I have seen a lot of good information here. Thank you for your replies.

The drois is the device name> clicking on the Market will take you to find the apps you need or want. :welcome: to the forum! We hope you find all you need here. I'm pretty sure downloading isn't the only way to install an app or program. I'm sure others will chime in on that subject

Droid is the phone model. Android is the platform/OS whatever you want to call it. unless specifically stated by an app, all apps in the Market will work with your droid. stick with downloading from the marketplace, but i think you could download apps from your pc and transfer them to your phone (not sure how)
