Droid Bug (FURIOUS)

Ive been up and down forums and google issues forums etc...

Idk about you people, but I like my text messages, and would like them to stay in my phone and not DELETE.

I know theres a topic about this, but this is an updated version.

Ive been having the issue since forever, and i text alot, so a day or two and bam gone. So prayingg that 2.1 fixed this issue, I updated 2 days ago andd it just happened.. all of them are gone. Ive had no force closes on messages, which i guess is nice, But stilllll all my messages deleted. :[ IDK what to do

this is my 4th droid. 2 replacements and one brand new one and all had this issue?
Is there anyway we can make this a big deal, or anyone know how to fix this?
This is ridiculous, everything about the phone is amazing, but i would like to keep my texts.

And no, no text limits or autodelete or any thing on. Can anyone help a passionate droid fan over here? Im soooo deflated its ridic.

Are you using the stock text message app or are you using ChompSMS or Handcent?

I've only read about this problem with people who are using 3rd party messenger apps.

I've had my droid since release day and never once lost my texts. I've always used the stock app though.

As far as a fix or way to get them back, there still hasn't been anything discovered there. There are apps that will back them up for you manually but that doesn't help right now.

hhhmmm i've never had an issue losing my txt messages. fwiw i'm using handcent.

Why aren't you using a backup program for them?

Have you went into the options and told it not to purge messages? It will doso automatically unless you tell it not to.

Also, there are apps for backing them up to your sd card. Ive had hundreds of msgs on mine at a time. If youre that picky about them..get an app that backs em up.

There's multiple threads about this issue but this is the first I've seen where either chomp or handcent weren't involved. Then again I never experienced it myself so I don't pay super close attention to those threads.

I use Handcent and never had texts deleted. You might try Handcent and see how that works for you.

You can d/l SMS backup & restore from the market and backup every once in a while. Only take a second to backup. Haven't had any problem with texts disappearing myself.

+1 on this, I use SMS popup and you can adjust the number of texts per thread before they start to delete. I think I have the setting at 300 right now, so no problem here. When I get close to the 300 I back them up and then start fresh.

i will tryy chomp and sms again but stock shouldnttt be deleted my messages...
i tried once and even those got deleted. its been happening before 2.1 and now after. my cousin has the same issue and there is a lottt of bug reports online towards google talking about this

i mean i thought 2.1 would help but it didnt. =/

and what do i do for the message purging thing?

thanks guys this issue is just really annoying. and btw i textttt alotttt. so idk if thats an issue? im 100 percent for android, and very pleased with the phone, but this issue is just the little hitch that makes it perfect u know? lol

This isn't fix but I thought I'd just mention that with Google Voice you always have a record of messages that you haven't deleted in the cloud without having to ever manually back up.
