do I have to close programs when not in use? I've heard there is no "close" option in most apps. How do you "kill" the apps?

I heard task killers are very problematic, and shouldn't be installed. Does the OS have a "stock" task killer?

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

You do not need a task killer, the os can handle it .

you can go to menu--settings--applications--manage applications and kill some from there.

Don't worry about it. But if it makes you feel better or if you have OCD for it, Advanced Task Manager has a nice little widget for it. The phone's OS won't waste power on apps that aren't running in the foreground (apps you're using right then.)

the problem with task killer is it will kill anything that you have set to sync like weather and such so keep an eye on that. there is a HHUUUUGGEEE thread on task killers, read it and decide for yourself. I dont have nor need one and phone works great.

I use Advanced Task Manager. Very simple to set up to leave those apps you select running and kill the rest.

May or may not be helping battery use but I get pretty solid life out of mine.

They're problematic if you don't know what you're doing with them. They shouldn't be needed unless you have a problem app in which case you should really be addressing the issue rather than the symptom, IMO. I suspect that there are a lot of people coming from other platforms (particular the Blackberry) that are assuming that Android works the same way that the BB does.
