Droid dock: Lock phone while plugged in

Does anyone know how to lock the phone while it's in dock mode? It would be nice to leave it plugged in but prevent passers-by from playing with my phone. You know?

Have you tried using the Pattern lock? Settings/Locations & Security/Set unlock pattern.

It would if the mode ever put the screen to sleep. Right now I can't figure out how to even put the screen to sleep.

What about just hitting the power button while in dock mode that should lock it.
