Droid Eris Battery Pack Problem

So i have had my phone for awhile i love it despite others opinions and iphone user put-downs. Despite the fact that it simply had no battery life from the original battery, so i bought a bigger battery with a modified back to fit, the battery works on the phone but it won't charge and the battery notifier(the widget that shows how much your battery is charged at the top) is grey with a exclamation point on it and the led blinks a continous green orange pattern does anyone know how to make it recognize the battery pack or at least get it to charge?

I have the same issue. Just bought an extended battery 3500mAh and i have same thing happening. I wonder if there is an extended battery that will work with it? I can't even get mine to stay on.
