I know this is a bit premature since we don't have any official rooted sightings yet, but I was talking to my sister last night, she is thinking of getting a Droid with her upgrade, and she doesn't care which one she gets (Either will work fine for her).
She suggested that she could get the Incredible, and then swap with me, which would work because I can leave it rooted and reflash it with the stock CM image for her, and then I'd have the DI.
I'm not sure if I want to do that though, because I've got my Droid to where I like it and it's benchmarking faster then stock Incredibles, (which makes me really itch with anticipation of overclocking the DI). I'm also not sure how long it'll take before we can get it rooted.
Are there plans to port CM and ROM Manager to the Incredible when it does get rooted? I am absolutely in love with ROM Manager, I've reflashed my phone and kernel sooooo many times in the last two weeks trying to find what works best with my specific phone, and I really like what has been done with CyanogenMod, I'd love to run it on a DI with a bekit 2.0GHz kernel :)

I cant speak for Koush and the guys, but I imagine, since they support the other Android phones, that they will support the DI when they have the ability.

i got the DI when it came out, great phone imo i like the feel, speed, even the sense ui is ok but since root was not possible it got ported to my wife lmfao.

if your sister or whomever doesnt mind waiting i would really hold out till either A.) the incredible gets rooted
B.) the droid 2 or w/e pops out by motorola and even then i might wait till root is achieved on that.

i rly wish google got the nexus over to verizon, even though the DI is suppose to be a better phone the fact that it gets google updates 1st and that they made it have root by some simple commands makes it a overall better phone, but thats just what im into when it comes to phones.

I thought I remember reading some where that the incredible has been rooted via an overclocked kernel?

Sounds bogus to me... 1) You need root to do anything to the kernel. 2) If it had been rooted, it's the only think you'd read about on the forum for the next month.

There is a thread about it in the DI General thread, but everyone is flaming them because they haven't released pictures or a walk-through yet, according to them they're still working out the best way to do it so people that can't follow directions don't brick their phone :)
@Drew - Yeah, I saw a thread in the General Discussion forum about a benchmark tool called Quadrant, and I ran it on my Droid, and not only did I benchmark quite a bit higher then a stock Incredible, they have a benchmark for the Motorola Shadow... Running 2.1... And the Nexus One on 2.1 and 2.2... If the Shadow has as big of a performance boost as the Nexus One...
I need to stop now before I need to change my underwear... :)
